Melbourne_Uni_Image_Students_April_2017_editedIlona is a student from Russia currently enrolled in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Science’s program, the Master of Social Policy. She is also a recipient of the Russian Government’s Global Education Scholarship program.

The Master of Social Policy enables you to understand the respective roles of government, private and not‐for‐profit sectors in meeting the needs of citizens. Understand and critique the key developments in social policy through a global lens, aiming to find ethically sustainable solutions, while considering the competing factors of social policy and the economy.

Ilona recently travelled to Indonesia as part of the University’s intensive overseas subject ‘Comparative Social Policy’ at the University of Gadjah Mada and is also a part of the University’s cheerleading team.

 

We asked Ilona a few questions about her experiences at Melbourne so far:

How did your scholarship help you?

It helped me by providing me such amazing opportunity to be a part of the University of Melbourne.

Why did you choose to apply to the University of Melbourne?

I chose the University of Melbourne because it is the leading higher educational institution with an outstanding reputation and with a strong tradition of excellence in teaching and research.

During semester, where do you live?

I live in a share house because it is fun and it helps me to save some money.

What do you hope to achieve after graduation?

I hope to implement the knowledge gained and make a meaningful difference to the society back in Russia.
