Oscar Vásquez Nieva - Peru

Course: Master in Customs and Administration Law
Institute: University of Canberra
Canberra, Australian Capital Territory

The whole time I was living in Canberra (over a year) was great. Education: the Master I studied is unique worldwide, and it gave me the knowledge I needed to complete my education in Trade and Customs. I made lifelong friends; both Australians and foreigners like me had a big heart always open to overseas visitor. The tranquility: the calm on Canberra have not seen in any other place on earth, is the perfect place to study and live away from home. Kangaroos: I lived on the campus of the University of Canberra, and I could see them in the morning at the opposite side of the window drinking rainwater over the grass. The UC Pub: Unbelievable. Thursday`s nights with my Aussie friends. Far from my son and my family for so long, I could not been able to complete the Master degree anywhere else.

Immediately after coming back to Peru, I was called to be part of the Peruvian Free Trade Negotiating Team (having been the Lead Negotiator of the Customs and Trade Facilitation matters in FTAs negotiated between Peru and Europe, Japan, Korea, TPP, WTO, Central America, etc..) and to teach the Customs Taxation course in the Master of Taxation of the Pontifical University Catholic of Peru. Now I am working as Senior Manager of the Customs and International Trade area of KPMG – Peru.
