Luca Turbesi - Italy

Course: Informational Technology (CISCO)
Institution: TAFE NSW
Location: Meadowbank, New South Wales

I was working at Erickson in Italy. I wanted to improve my skills in IT and I decided to come to Australia. I searched for courses online and compared many private and TAFE colleges. I was very impressed with what TAFE NSW had to offer. The best course I found was at TAFE NSW Meadowbank campus, they have the CISCO Academy Training Centre.

When I arrived at the college, the International Student Coordinator helped me a lot to settle in. She is friendly and very easy to approach. The Manager of International Student Services is also readily available to help students. Overall, the support services are excellent. I find the facilities at TAFE NSW to be very much up to current industry standards. The best thing for me is the lab. In this field, the employer is looking for someone who can configure, troubleshoot and monitor CISCO. This is exactly what our teachers teach us here at TAFE NSW.

TAFE NSW has all the devices that you can find at the real workplace. You can simulate the same problem in the real situation. The practical aspect of the course is fantastic. The library is fantastic, it has lots of space, open plan, and students can use the PC in the lab or use their own. There are many books to refer.

I found a part-time job in an Italian restaurant. It is very conveniently located outside my campus. I am enjoying the best pizzas in Sydney! Life is hard, balancing work and study, but I know when I go back to the industry it will be fully worth it.
