Course: Study Abroad (Australian politics and history)
University of Sydney
Sydney, New South Wales

When I returned from studying at the University of Sydney for five months, a friend asked me if I had gotten homesick at any point. I told him that, not only did I not get homesick, but now that I was back at home, I felt Australia-sick.

In five months, I road-tripped over 1,000 miles on the “wrong side of the road,” I visited Melbourne and Cairns, held a koala, swam at Bondi beach and walked along the Sydney Harbour Bridge. I also almost ran over a kangaroo during my road trip.

I never imagined that I would experience so many unique “Aussie” things.

At the University of Sydney I had a lot of fun learning about Australian politics and history, and was also fortunate enough join the Ultimate Frisbee team, where I made some great Australian friends. My professors were really knowledgeable in their fields and were great at conveying information to the class. I enjoyed the Australian system of teaching and grading; I always felt like I knew what was expected of me as a student.

Overall I had a phenomenal time and I would recommend study in Australia to any student who is considering studying abroad.
