Caitlin Burns - USA

Caitlin studied abroad in Perth. She says it was the best experience I have ever had. Every minute of my time in Australia was priceless.

Course: Study Abroad (Education)
Murdoch University
Perth, Western Australia

My name is Caitlin Burns. I’m a senior at University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, studying Elementary Education. I studied abroad in Perth, Australia Spring 2010 and it was the best experience I have ever had. Every minute of my time in Australia was priceless. I chose to study there because it is half a world away but not so different that it would be terrifying.

The things you will do, the people your will meet, and how you will grow while studying abroad is unbelievable. I went snorkelling with manta rays, cliff jumping in the outback, and took road trips up and down the West and East coast. My one piece of advice is to take that leap and study abroad. Once you make that choice, enjoy it to the fullest!

My study in Australia will help me over all because it showed me a new culture and allowed me to value differences more than I already did. I think much of what I learned and experienced in Australia will help me far into the future. I fell in love with the country and have full intention of returning, and hopefully teaching there.
