Course: Study Abroad (Society & Culture)
Institute: University of Sydney
Location: Sydney, NSW
My name is Ashley Foote and I am a junior at the University of California, Irvine. I am a double major in Political Science and Criminology, as well as Law and Society. I attended University of Sydney while I studied abroad during the spring semester of 2011. Everybody that I met was welcoming and friendly and I developed friendships that I will always treasure.
Studying abroad gave me an incredible opportunity to experience an intimate view of Australia. I learned about myself as an individual and expanded my horizons by attending a prestigious university. I was able to travel along the Great Ocean Road and observe the magnificence of the Twelve Apostles. I learned how to scuba dive, while swimming with Nemo at the Great Barrier Reef. I even took a surfing lesson at Manly, and discovered the legend of the “Three Sisters” rock formation, in the Blue Mountains.
I would encourage everyone to study abroad in Australia, to try something new, make life-long friends, and to create memories that you will cherish forever. I would not trade my time in Australia for anything.
