Australians use a lot of slang words, one of the more common words is g’day. G’day is an abbreviation of good day, a general greeting.

A GP is a doctor who works in the community, dealing with a variety of illnesses and conditions. If you are ill in Australia, a GP will be able to either prescribe medication or refer you to a specialised medical practitioner. If you need a medical certificate to explain your absence from class, or to assist in your application for Special consideration, you will need to visit a GP.

Once you have completed your course, and been through your Graduation (or have received your Testamur), you can be considered a graduate of your course, and institution. Prior to the Graduation, you are technically known as a graduand.

A Grant is a sum of money provided by a government, local authority, or public fund to finance educational study, overseas aid, building repairs, etc. Grants may be relevant to you as an international student if you are interested in Higher Degree Research study, or if you plan to undertake travel as a part of your studies.
