Shahid can not list all the
reasons why he likes studying in Australia: “I like a lot of things
during my study in Australia. If I want to mention [them all] then it
would be a big research report!”
Shahid is also a big fan of
Australia as a place to live. He is particularly fond of Australia’s
weather, the welcoming and friendly people, and affordable living and
tuition costs. Australia’s natural beauty, safety and “thriving arts and
cultural scenes” were also high on Shahid’s list of reasons to study in
Australia.
“Excellent” is the term Shahid uses to describe the
quality of the Australian education he is receiving. The great
facilities, flexible learning, and opportunities for conference
attendance are just some of the reasons why he loves his Australian
course.
Through his Australian PhD, Shahid is not only learning
research and thesis-writing skills, he is also gaining invaluable skills
in adapting and applying theoretical knowledge to the practical world.
And these skills are something Shahid feels he wouldn’t have gained from
courses in his field back home in Bangladesh.
“Back home I was
teaching complicated theories and formulas at undergraduate and
postgraduate level, but there is no application in the market. But in
Australia, I am teaching and [learning] fewer theories and formulas and
more [knowledge and skills that have] application in the real life.”
Shahid now thinks of Australia as a second home, and has no hesitation recommending Australian education to other students
