Lorenzo Lu
Phillipines
Institution: Charles Darwin University
Lorenzo describes his Australian education as “world class.”
“They don’t only teach us nursing in Australia—they try to teach and
prepare us for the world. They don’t limit our knowledge to a certain
place or country, and encourage us to think globally,” he says.
And this is exactly what Lorenzo hoped for when he moved to Australia to
study his degree in nursing. He lists meeting new people, experiencing a
different culture and expanding his horizons among the more important
goals he had when he came here.
Australia “is like home” for Lorenzo, especially since he lives with
relatives in Darwin. But he also receives plenty of support from his
university.
“They provide us with plenty of support in every aspect of being a
student, academically, financially.”
Lorenzo speaks very highly of the quality of his course, as well as the
opportunities he knows it will give him in the future. He is certain his
Australian degree will help him get a job.
“I’d say graduates of Australian institutions are prepared for the
world.”
“Aside from the fact that there is a nurse shortage worldwide, even
though I am still only a student in my chosen career, there is already a
vast amount of information on where I can work, and on the
opportunities I can take.”
Lorenzo is happy that he receives so much good advice from his teachers
about his future career, even though he has not yet graduated! He also
has some advice for other students considering a move to Australia:
“Give it a go, do not limit yourself. Expand your horizons."
