Jaime’s philosophy is “study hard but play hard.” She says that studying
architecture can be demanding but the rewards make all of her hard work
worth it.
“Studying overseas is a chance of a lifetime not to be wasted. Most of
the time I’m at university as my course demands a lot of time and
commitment,” she said. “I am grateful for my wonderful friends at
university. We “suffer” together—the late nights [studying] together—and
when we do get time off we hang out and have fun, especially after all
of us have completed a major project.”
Jaime is clearly passionate about her studies and knows what she wants
to get out of her university education.
“The combination of architecture and construction management courses
allows for more exposure to the creative and practical aspects of the
course. It puts equal emphasis on the design, theory and construction
units of the course. I think this is very important as the understanding
of these three aspects is essential in any design in architecture,” she
said.
Jaime came to Australia to experience a different lifestyle and
environment, as well as to challenge herself to be independent in
another country. She is studying in Melbourne but enjoys travelling to
see the sights in other towns and cities.
For Jaime, the only downside to studying in Australia is the flies in
summer. And the best part is the friends she has made: “I love them to
bits!”
