Ashwina
Mauritius
Institution: Queensland University of Technology
Ashwina is confident she made the right decision transferring her
studies in social science from the United Kingdom to Australia. She is
impressed not only with the affordability of her course in Australia,
but also with the quality of the education and services she receives.“
It’s a good choice. It’s affordable and the quality of education is at a
good level,” she says. “Library services and computer labs are very
good for supporting students with their research.”
A great benefit to Ashwina was the fact that she was able to move
directly into the second year of her Australian course after gaining
credit for previous study. “In Australia, I was given exemption for
previous study and headed straight into second year. That saved me one
year.”
The knowledge and skills she is gaining from both the theoretical and
practical elements of her course gives Ashwina confidence that her job
prospects will be good.
Ashwina is also happy and relieved at how welcome and at home she feels
in Australia. She values the extensive support she receives from her
university.
“I like the fact that the university has international groups which
organise cultural parties, or activities which make you feel welcome and
not lonely. Also, mentors are provided to facilitate the life of a
university student."
