Institution attended: RMIT University
Prayudi
first became interested in communications during high school. Now he lectures in
communications at the University of Pembangunan Nasional in Yogyakarta,
Indonesia. He will return to Australia this year to complete his PhD.
“The dynamics of media, various forms of communication, and how to
communicate with people are some of the communication issues that interest me,”
he said.
Prayudi’s Australian qualification is internationally
recognised and has helped him to obtain research funds as well as invitations to
speak at national seminars and workshops. He has good memories of studying in
Melbourne.
“The professionalism of the supervisors and staff, the
conducive academic atmosphere, very kind postgraduate friends, and the good
facilities and flexibility for research students made it a very positive
learning environment,” he said.
Prayudi credits his Australian study
experience for some of the teaching methods he now uses with his own students.
“My qualification has assisted me as a teacher here at my university in
Indonesia. I have adopted and implemented some of the teaching and supervisory
methods I experienced.”
He adds: “I like teaching as it requires
analytical, writing, as well as presentation skills.”
Prayudi also
continues to conduct research at the Centre for Media and Communication Dynamics
at the university. He was been awarded an RMIT scholarship to study for his PhD
in Australia from 2006 to 2008.
