Christine hoped to find a place to study where western values
blended with the values of other cultures. This is exactly what she discovered
in Australia, and it helped her to grow as an artist and teacher.
“The
multicultural society taught me to be a more open-minded person and it helps a
lot in my career,” she said. “Australia was a good place for me to learn how to
integrate different cultures, either in my works or my
classes.”
Christine also found that the style and quality of her
Australian education helped her to make the most of the opportunities for
development.
“Students have a totally free and leading role in their own
research, and the supervision was professional and really gave students great
support,” she said.
Christine says that doctorates in design are quite
rare back in her home country, which made her job search easier. She now works
at a university.
“For a woman who has a doctor degree and western
education it is very easy to find a good job in Taiwan,” she said.
“Globalisation is the basic idea for all higher degree education in Taiwan. A
teacher who has a western education is the best and first
choice.”
Christine describes Australia as “a very beautiful and natural
country” and believes she received “the best” university
education.
