09 Society and Culture

Are you interested in human nature, politics, sociology and belief and cultural systems? The field of society and culture is one of the most diverse of all the fields of study. This field attracts students who are deep thinkers and problem-solvers; students who like to consider the big issues of the universe.

Many of the fields have overlapping disciplines, such as sociology, philosophy and psychology. Many of these disciplines can be studied as a major in a bachelor of arts, while others, such as law, require a specific qualification.

Options in this field include:

  • Justice and law enforcement;
  • Languages and literature;

  • Librarianship, information management and curatorial studies;

As you can imagine, the tertiary options in this field are endless. Many of these fields can be completed as a double degree, for instance economics and arts, or psychology and languages.

There are also many postgraduate options in this field, ranging from graduate certificates to doctoral degrees.

Vocational Education and Training (VET) options are also many and varied and there are many pathways into tertiary education.
