Australian Education International (AEI)
Australian Education International (AEI) is the international arm of the Australian Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR), with 26 overseas offices in 18 countries.
AEI assists all Australian education sectors to increase international engagement. Successive Australian Education Ministers have identified international engagement in education, science and research as a critical element in ensuring Australia’s future. AEI seeks to promote a greater understanding of Australian education and in particular the quality processes and frameworks that underpin its attractiveness internationally.
In North America AEI operates from offices in the Australian Embassy in Washington DC and the Australian Consulate General in Los Angeles. AEI aims to increase collaboration and student exchange between Australia and the United States and Canada.
AEI fosters science, education and research links between Australia and North America. The offices work with institutions, associations, government and non-government agencies, as well as students and advisors to strengthen bilateral relationships through increased education, research, and teaching exchange between Australia and North America.
AEI is able to provide a range of information on the Australian education system and assist US and Canadian institutions interested in learning more about Australian educational opportunities, including developing linkages with Australian institutions. In addition, the AEI offices provide counselling, advice, and information to students and advisors.
