Australian Higher Education Seminar 2007
Australian Education International (AEI), the international branch of the Australian Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST), in partnership with AACRAO and NAFSA, hosted the third annual Australian Higher Education Seminar from 20 September to 7 October 2007.
A delegation of North American representatives were invited to attend the two-week seminar to Australia to become familiar with the education system, the universities, and the culture of Australia. The seminar started with an introductory briefing with the Department of Education, Science and Training in the Australian capital, Canberra. Participants then had the opportunity to visit universities in two diverse regions — the Northern Territory and Queensland.
With a focus on building relationships between Australia and the United States, the seminar included sessions on the Australian educational system with a particular focus on degree recognition and credit transfer. Institutional visits addressed individual program information, highlighted facilities and services, and allowed for networking opportunities. Delegates visited a range of academic institutions during the seminar.
Details regarding the Australian Higher Education Seminar 2008 will be made available in early 2008.
