Living in Australia
The cost of living in Australia is lower than that of the US. It is estimated that a student will need only about US$6,500 a year, in addition to tuition and fees, to cover living expenses such as accommodation, food, transportation, textbooks, and entertainment. The cost of living in Australia varies according to the location of the host university, the style of accommodation choosen and the students' lifestyle. In general, living costs are higher in urban centers and lower in regional areas. Not surprisingly, the Australia Bureau of Statistics has found that households in capital cities spend considerably more, on average, on housing, food, clothing, and recreation than those in regional areas.
