ISEP is the world’s largest network of post-secondary institutions cooperating to provide affordable international educational experiences for a diverse student population. ISEP members cooperate as equal partners in order to offer high-quality programs and further the internationalization of their campuses, collectively achieving goals beyond their individual reach.
ISEP is a nonprofit membership organization of 245 institutions of higher education located throughout the United States and in more than 35 other countries. ISEP members are regionally accredited (U.S. institutions) or recognized by their government or ministry of education (non-U.S. institutions). ISEP is governed by a Board of Directors and administered by a central office in Washington, D.C.
ISEP serves 1,675 participants annually and has facilitated over 21,000 study abroad placements since its founding in 1979.
Services
ISEP programs are full-immersion experiences. ISEP participants attend lectures, participate in class discussions, and do the same work as Australian students; experience and adapt to daily life in Australia; learn how people from Australia and other cultures approach problems in their field of study, and think about the issues that they will face in the future. ISEP processes applications, distributes student handbooks, health and safety information, and additional pre-departure information in both written and Web format.
The ISEP Web site provides access to all pre-departure and program information for students. Study Abroad Advisors are able to manage their student applications via the Web site. ISEP also offers a health insurance program designed for the international traveler. Each institution has a designated ISEP Coordinator on-campus to assist ISEP participants during their program and to act as ISEP’s main on-site contact.
“My coursework had a variety of studies including Geology, Social Work, Indigenous Australian Studies, and Emergency Medical Care. … my eyes have been opened to concerns outside the borders of the U.S. … I have become a much more confident and independent person …”
