Brethren Colleges Abroad (BCA)
Sydney has been called one of the world’s most livable cities. Maybe it’s the mild climate or the beautiful setting – you can find out for yourself while exploring Sydney and its environs. With more than 70 beaches nearby, as well as numerous national parks and the incredible harbor, Sydney is perfect if you love the outdoors. You can also take advantage of all the amenities that a large, cosmopolitan area has to offer, such as a variety of ethnic restaurants, shops, opera and museums.
Host University
Macquarie University’s campus in the Sydney suburbs sits on 135 acres of bush land; it’s surrounded by Lane Cove National Park and it includes a sculpture park and museums.
At Macquarie you can take courses in a wide range of subjects, including the humanities, social sciences, business and the natural sciences. Many BCA students also enjoy taking a course in Indigenous Studies so that they can better understand the complex history and culture of the Australian Aborigines.
Housing
At the university, you’ll live with Australian and international students at Dunmore Lang Residential College, where you can participate in student activities such as the film club, the marketing business society, the bushwalking club or yoga. When you feel like getting away from campus, Sydney’s extensive system of public transportation makes it easy for you to reach such famous places as the Sydney Opera House and Bondi Beach.
