University of Ballarat (UB)
The University of Ballarat, originally established as the School of Mines Ballarat in 1870, is the only regional multi-sectoral university in Australia. Located in Ballarat a welcoming community of more than 90,000 people, it is only 110 kilometres from Melbourne and Melbourne's International Airport.
Being a multi-sectoral university means that the University of Ballarat offers programs from senior secondary level through vocational Certificates and Diplomas to university Undergraduate and Postgraduate Degrees.
With excellent facilities and modern campuses in regional Victoria, the University of Ballarat has excellent support systems for international students.
|
The University of Ballarat offers a unique opportunity to experience the 'real Australia' while you study here.
Ballarat is big enough to offer the delights of a big city, but life in Ballarat is less hurried, is safer, less polluted, and yet close enough to offer access to many other attractions, such as the surf beaches along the Great Ocean Road, the Grampians National Park, the snow fields of Mt Buller, and the cosmopolitan city of Melbourne.
University of Ballarat provides excellent staff-student ratios, a wide range of first class sporting facilities as well as on-campus accommodation, easy access to computing and library facilities, all in a natural bushland setting where kangaroos and koalas often wander.
|
With strong ties to its historic past, modern Ballarat is a lively provincial city of almost a hundred thousand people located in the Victorian Highlands just over an hour's drive west from Melbourne, Australia's second largest city.
To the south, just an hour away, are beautiful ocean beaches, including the famous surfing mecca, Bell's Beach. From this point the Great Ocean Road traverses 800km (500 miles) of spectacular coastline, with many famous and beautiful natural landmarks, picturesque coastal towns and villages, lush temperate rainforests, lakes and national parks. To the west are the Grampian Mountains, complete with spectacular, rugged mountain valleys, waterfalls, aboriginal sites and unique flora and fauna.
|
The University of Ballarat's Mt Helen campus in Ballarat has an on campus student population of just over 5,000 students, with just over 10% of being international students. Considered a medium sized university, University of Ballarat's class sizes are considerably smaller than larger institutions, which in turn results in a more personally orientated education for all students.
