My Story
In my final year of study at UTS, I created a prototype for a digital community notice board with the UTS student community in mind, together with two other group members. The Australian Interactive Multimedia Industry Association (AIMIA) named the team’s work the ‘Best Student Project’ of the year at their national awards ceremony in Melbourne. I call the win my “most important achievement at UTS, ever!
I chose to study abroad at UTS because international studies are a good experience for me. I can practise my English as I don’t have many opportunities to speak English in Hong Kong. I heard many good things about IT at UTS through my education agent, which is the one of the reasons I chose UTS.
Arriving in Australia with limited English speaking skills, I found the fast track diploma I completed at INSEARCH to be good preparation for further studies. INSEARCH gave me a good idea on how to do good academic writings and I met some friends as well.
UTS is a very good environment to make some new friends, practice English and gain self confidence. I joined the Taiwanese student club and I went to some outdoor activities as well, like the Union barbecues.
My course was mostly about web development. I chose multimedia subjects for developing websites, so we learnt about media styles and to use Photoshop for web development. Doing my final project for my masters was a very good experience. We had to develop the prototype of a system which gave me a chance to research and get advice from the lecturer in an area I hadn’t studied before.
I like the environment, I like the lifestyle in Australia. I enjoy the scenery, and the national parks, and the blue sky. I like taking photographs. It’s a very good place.
