La Trobe on course with iTunesU
La Trobe is the first Australian university to launch courses on Apple’s iTunes U – a new online delivery method that allows a worldwide audience to access teaching material for free, regardless of location or enrolment.
The University’s iTunes U now has more than 60,000 subscribers, many of them from overseas, with especially high interest from subscribers in the USA, China and the UK.
Courses currently available on iTunes U include, Principles of Physics, History of Children’s Literature, Press & Society, Venice during the Renaissance and The European Union in the New Millennium – a course that includes interviews with leading EU figures and academics in the field.
"The feedback we are getting is that people around the world enjoy these subjects, and they are encouraged to think about tertiary education and study in new ways," says Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President, Professor John Rosenberg.
Since launching La Trobe on iTunes U in October 2009, the University has had more than 5 million downloads.
